Fire destroyed Stephen Rose's grist and saw mills at Lakeville with all contents on November 25, 1862.
The new school at Lakeville was completed in 1896 and furnished with improved desks and seats. There were also new wall maps. The efficient teacher was Miss Lizzie MacInnis.
The East Point Cheese Factory was situated at the current site of Baker's Sawmill before 1901.
Angus MacEachern ran a forge on the south side of the bridge on the east side of the highway.

Hon. Angus MacDonald (deceased), Superior Court Justice in Calgary Alberta was born here.
Starbird J. Rose 1865-1947, Carpenter, Farmer and noted Wheelbarrow Manufacturer resided here. His photo appear posthumously in the Family Herald in 1947.
Dr. William O. Rose 1870-1936 - Physician, first Prince Edward Islander to win the Gold Medal at McGill University, Member of the Legislative Assembly in British Columbia was born here.
