Introduction . . .

Situated in Lot 47, Lakeville was name given for the school ajacent to North Lake, ca. 1873. There was a post office here from 1885 to 1913. The residents of North Lakeville used the Lakeville post office from 1908 to 1913.

A brief history . . .

Fire destroyed Stephen Rose's grist and saw mills at Lakeville with all contents on November 25, 1862.

The new school at Lakeville was completed in 1896 and furnished with improved desks and seats. There were also new wall maps. The efficient teacher was Miss Lizzie MacInnis.

The East Point Cheese Factory was situated at the current site of Baker's Sawmill before 1901.

Angus MacEachern ran a forge on the south side of the bridge on the east side of the highway.

Interesting individuals associated with the community . . .

Elisha J. Baker 1823-1906, Fisherman and survivor of the Yankee Gale of 1851 was from here.

Hon. Angus MacDonald (deceased), Superior Court Justice in Calgary Alberta was born here.

Starbird J. Rose 1865-1947, Carpenter, Farmer and noted Wheelbarrow Manufacturer resided here. His photo appear posthumously in the Family Herald in 1947.

Dr. William O. Rose 1870-1936 - Physician, first Prince Edward Islander to win the Gold Medal at McGill University, Member of the Legislative Assembly in British Columbia was born here.
