Glencorradale is situated in
Lot 46. About 1840 a resident called Mr. Haney of nearby Souris Line Road, was supported by his neighbours against oppression by his landlord. The govenrment sent soldiers to quell the disturbances. Meanwhile the rebels his out east of the road in the area of present Glencorradale. The event recalled the time that Prince Charles hid out at Glen Caradal on the Isle of Skye, after his defeat at Culloden. The name Glencorradale was chosen for the new settlement ca. 1846 by settlers from Invernesshire, Scotland. There was a post office here ca. 1884 to 1914. An 1880 map has West Baltic as the name of the school.
A brief history . . .
Joe Dunphy of Glencorradale purchased a suit at W. B. Leard's Tailoring for $16.00 cash in 1899. He went away to New York to work in construction. He returned for a visit to his parents 20 years later, wearing the same suit. It wore like iron.
