Eastern Kings Birdwatching

Introduction
Jaime Gallagher

Bird watching is a common and environmentally friendly hobby world-wide. The district served by the Eastern Kings Meeting Place, in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada, is no exception. Birds are the commonest, most attractive and easiest observed wildlife around us. They add to the interest and pleasure of being alive. This form of wildlife has many sanctuaries and human friends in the area. I visited Eastern Kings in 2008. No matter where I looked, there were birds everywhere!

My friends Berdina Cairns, Carolyn Smith, Dawn Burrows, Eden Forsythe, Karon Cole and Meg Pierce really enjoy sharing this common interest of ours. Our interest began at home or in school by following their behavior, seeing how their numbers change with the seasons, and now unravelling the challenges of an identification problem! The text for this web page is our own. As we grew within our personal interest, many texts were consulted. Most of us do not live in Canada, therefore it is difficult to recommend any particular publication. It is lovely to have several field guides to consult. The art work and photography vary.We hope to share our interest with you. No matter how keen and how aware a birdwatcher you are or you become, you will always share our pleasure in being in the outdoors!
